Hydrologist/Research Scientist (non tenured track)
The National Center for Water Quality Research (NCWQR) at Heidelberg University, Tiffin, Ohio has an immediate opening for a non-tenure track Hydrologist/Research Scientist. This position will:
- Conduct research in the areas of agricultural runoff modeling (especially SWAT model applications);
- Linking water quality modeling and economic modeling; using advanced model calibration techniques;
- Modeling impacts of various climate change scenarios on agricultural runoff;
- GIS-applications including targeting of Best Management Practices (BMPs) to critical pollutant source areas;
- Using models to simulate pollutant load reductions associated with alternative BMP implementation scenarios.
The NCWQR is supported entirely by research, monitoring, and analytical service grants and contracts. A minimum of a Masters Degree in Hydrology, Agricultural and/or Biological Engineering or related field and 1 year experience required with record of scholarly publications and successful grant acquisition. Assistant Professor, Computer Science (information systems focus)
The Heidelberg University Department of Computer Science seeks candidates with a CIS or MIS background for a tenure-track appointment; a start date as early as January 2010 is possible. Teaching assignments will include both introductory and upper-level courses such as computer literacy and MS Office applications, the ACM CS0/CS1 sequence, management information systems, systems analysis, and database management. The candidate may also have the opportunity to develop new courses in areas of interest that complement the existing curriculum. The successful candidate will be a generalist who demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with an earned doctorate in information systems, computer science or a closely related field.
Heidelberg University is located in northwest Ohio with an enrollment of over 1500 students in undergraduate, graduate and off-campus programs. Assistant Professor, European History

Creative Designer
Description:
The Creative Designer will have experience developing print publications from concept to print. This position will also be involved in campus photography and brand management.
Qualifications: The Creative Designer must have the ability to conceive, design, layout, and coordinate publications such as brochures; handbooks, posters, and magazines. He or she must be able to develop relationships with all constituencies of Heidelberg University as necessary to gather content and gain an accurate understanding of the Heidelberg experience. Candidate should be a creative self-starter capable of working in a team environment. This position will work closely with the web manager and report to the Creative Director.
Candidate must have a minimum associate’s degree or preferred bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or similar degree and two years of professional experience and/or training, preferably in a higher education setting. Must possess strong computer skills in Macintosh environment, Adobe Creative Suite applications, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Must be knowledgeable in print production methods, pre-press, paper selection for both digital and offset printing. Proficient in MS Office suite applications, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Photography and web design a plus. Must possess an eagerness to work collaboratively, a proven positive work ethic and the ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities and competing demands.

Institutional and Market Research Analyst

Description: The Institutional and Market Research Analyst will lead the development and implementation of effective institutional and market research practices in support of the university’s strategic plan. The analyst will be the central point of contact for institutional data analysis and reporting, and will design scanning and reporting methods to accurately collect, analyze, and publish information about Heidelberg to both internal and external constituencies.
Responsibilities will include:

Provide support and analysis for institutional planning, budgeting, program review, accreditation, enrollment, and assessment processes.

Regularly publish findings through written and graphical reports and presentations.

Coordinate administration and completion of the Common Data Set, IPEDS, and similar information required by governmental, accrediting, and other agencies.

Conduct market research in support of Enrollment Management strategies.

This is a new position, and will report to the Associate Vice-President for Information Resources.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish efficient and effective IR processes, and to collaborate and cooperate with all key constituencies. She/he must be an effective communicator in both written and verbal form, work well under deadline pressure, balance multiple priority tasks, and perform well in both cooperative and independent situations, as the situation requires. Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, and familiarity with appropriate statistical software packages will be essential. She/he will be skillful in collecting, verifying, analyzing, and reporting institutional data, and will demonstrate the ability to think creatively while working with limited resources. An advanced degree is desirable, as is familiarity with Sungard Banner. Preference will be given to candidates with professional IR experience in a college or university setting.

Reference and Instruction Librarian
Heidelberg University’s Beeghly Library has an immediate opening for a Reference and Instruction Librarian. This position is an integral part of a three-person, reference department serving undergraduate and masters’ level students.
The candidate will participate in providing reference and research assistance using electronic and traditional sources as well as incorporating the latest technologies and teaching methods, with the goal of further developing an information literacy program. The staff anticipates expansion of virtual reference services including IM, Libguides, course management systems, and other tools. The reference librarian will collaborate with the other public service librarians, and the Director of the Academic Success Center in designing the program, expanding outreach, delivering services, and evaluating outcomes. Additional duties may include some interlibrary loan, web site maintenance, and collection development including reference and electronic sources, and other tasks as assigned. The position requires evening and weekend reference desk duty on a rotating basis.
Beeghly Library is a member of the OhioLINK and OPAL Ohio library consortia, providing access to more than 47 million items, 140 research databases, and thousands of electronic journals.
