Academic Life
Heidelberg College provides an education that engages students' minds and helps them to create futures for their highest aspirations. Heidelberg will challenge students, support their goals, draw them into experiences, and teach them how to succeed at doing what they love.
A quality liberal arts education, service to students, a close, personal learning and living environment, and strong values-centered philosophy are hallmarks of a Heidelberg education. Heidelberg offers 36 undergraduate courses of study, 16 minors, and 13 pre-professional programs. Our 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio means students enjoy personal attention from faculty members, opportunities for undergraduate research, and the chance to share their ideas in small, stimulating classes. Heidelberg also offers several graduate programs.
Heidelberg students participate in a First-Year Seminar, designed to put their education in focus while preparing them for a lifetime of thinking, participating, and learning. Degree programs provide not only a broad liberal arts background, but also practical skills that lead to successful careers. For example, students who graduate from Heidelberg's signature education program and test for their teaching licenses have nearly a 100 percent passing rate. A number of students also take advantage of our Honors Program, opportunities for study abroad, and research programs guided by Heidelberg's excellent teaching faculty.
