Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Program
ELIGIBILITY
Through Heidelberg's OPTIONS program, qualified juniors and seniors may apply to take Heidelberg courses designated as appropriate by the institution.
An application for admission to the program must be completed for each academic year and should be submitted by July 1. A one time application fee of $25 is required.
Heidelberg's OPTIONS program is not open to ninth and tenth grade students except in very special circumstances in which a student is exceptionally talented in a given area and has exhausted all appropriate opportunities in that area at his or her high school.
Heidelberg reserves the right to limit what a student can take or terminate enrollment in the subsequent semester if a student earns a grade below a C-.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students who have the maturity and study habits to do college-level work may apply for admission. To qualify for admission, the student must
(1) must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
(2) have the recommendation of the high school counselor or principal;
High school seniors must also have passed the Ohio Graduation Test prior to applying.
Students who do not meet the first requirement may apply for admission if the student has a combined score of 1650 or more on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or a composite score of 24 or more on the American College Test (ACT). Admission is at Heidelberg's discretion.
COURSES AVAILABLE
High school seniors may take one or two courses per semester, and high school juniors may take one course per semester.
Students may select appropriate courses (usually 100- and 200-level courses) from the Traditional Schedule of Classes. Selection is subject to the approval of the Heidelberg advisor and the campus instructor. Students will be permitted to take only those courses that are currently in the college schedule and for which there is sufficient enrollment of regular college students.
Because Heidelberg students are given priority in registering for classes, some classes may have reached maximum enrollment before registrations for OPTIONS students are processed. In such cases, high school students will be asked to consider other course offerings.
Within the OPTIONS program, registration priorities will be based on date of admission and on prior hours earned at Heidelberg.

CREDIT AND COST
Qualified students may enroll under either of two options. The student must choose one of these options at the time of the application for admission to the OPTIONS program, and the choice may not be changed once the application has been submitted to Heidelberg.
Option A: The student will receive college credit for the course(s), and the student is responsible for tuition and all other costs associated with the course(s), including textbooks. Tuition for this program is approximately one-third of the regular tuition.
Option B: The student will receive both high school and college credit for the course(s), and tuition will be covered by the home high school district under the provisions of Ohio Senate Bill 140. Textbook(s), which must be returned at the end of the semester, will also be provided under the provisions of SB140.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION
All first-time OPTIONS students are required to attend an orientation session prior to registering for classes. Orientations are held in July and August with specific dates and times to be announced.
