Intramurals

Intramurals at Heidelberg College began courtesy of Herman Sayger. In 1924, Sayger was selected as director of physical education and brought with him a complete program of intramural events.

Intramurals at Heidelberg provide all students an opportunity to participate in recreational sports. Students, faculty and alumni recognize intramural sports as an integral part of campus life. Participation in intramurals provides friendly competition, exercise and recreation.

The emphasis is on fun, not competition. Winning is not the primary goal but rather, the opportunity to exercise, develop leadership skills and meet new people are the greatest rewards of intramural sports.
