‘Berg Wins Double OT Thriller

Tiffin, Ohio – October 31, 2009 – The Heidelberg University men’s soccer team defeated Mount Union College with the score of 1-0 in double overtime. The win clinches the number four spot in the Ohio Athletic Tournament for the Berg.
 
The Berg finishes the regular season 9-7-2 overall, 4-4-1 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders close out the year 8-10-1, 1-7-1 in the OAC.
 
Despite Heidelberg having a 15-3 shot advantage through regulation, the game would go in overtime.
 
In double overtime and in the 104th minute, Killian Riley (Zanesville, Ohio / Zanesville) crossed a ball in the box to Dillard Anu (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville), which then Anu made a move past the goalie and placed a ball in the near post for the game-winner. The score marked Anu’s third goal of the season.
 
Overall Heidelberg outshot Mount Union 20-3. Following Anu’s two shots with two on goal was Cory Buhrman (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) who had a game-high five shots with two on goal. Grant Beck (Roanoke, Texas / Keller) and Sean Deilgat (Sand Diego, Calif. / St. Augustine) each had three shots and two on goal for the night.
 
Heidelberg begins postseason action when they host Marietta College, Tuesday November 3, at 7:00 p.m.
