Transfer and Exam Credit
The Registrar of the University evaluates previous undergraduate academic work as a potential source of academic credit for transfer to Heidelberg University. Transfer credit may be awarded for:
- Previous work at other regionally accredited colleges and universities
- Satisfactory completion of Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations
- Satisfactory completion of examinations in the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- Satisfactory completion of International Baccalaureate (IB) Courses
- Some non-traditional learning opportunities (as evaluated by the American Council on Education)
Transfer Applicants and Requirements
Transfer applicants are required to submit a Heidelberg Application for Admission, high school transcripts, transcripts of all previous college-level work attempted and a Personnel Dean’s Data form from the institution most recently attended. Transfer applicants must be in good academic standing and entitled to an honorable dismissal at the college or university they most recently attended. A minimum GPA of 2.0 (A=4.0 scale) is required for transfer students who enter Heidelberg directly from another institution. Students who wish to transfer to Heidelberg should apply by December 1 for the Spring Semester and by August 1 for the Fall Semester.
Transfer students may be admitted to any semester and at any level. The transfer of credit is determined by the Office of the Registrar. Courses with grades of “C-” or better will be considered for transfer. The transfer credit will not affect the Heidelberg cumulative grade point average. At least 60 semester hours that are applied toward a degree must be completed at four-year, regional accredited institutions. The last 30 hours credited toward a degree at Heidelberg must be taken in residence.
Heidelberg promotes successful student transfer through articulation agreements. View the course-by-course articulations established between Heidelberg and other institutions on the left in the navigation menu.
