Article II: Judicial Authority

1.   The Vice President for Student Affairs, or a designee, reserves the right to take action that will most effectively protect the welfare of the students and the interests of the College.

2.   The Vice President for Student Affairs, or a designee, reserves the right to dismiss at any time a student who in his/her judgment is undesirable and whose continuation in the school is detrimental to the student or other members of the Heidelberg community.  Such dismissal may be made without specific charge.

3.   The Vice President for Student Affairs or a designee shall determine the composition of judicial bodies and Appeals Board and determine which judicial body, Judicial Advisor and Appeals Board shall be authorized to hear each case.

4.   The Judicial Advisor shall develop policies for the administration of the judicial program and procedural rules for the conduct of hearings which are not inconsistent with provisions of the Student Code.

5.   Decisions made by a judicial body and/or a Judicial Advisor shall be final, pending the normal appeal process.

6.   A judicial body may be designated as arbiter of disputes within the student community in cases which do not involve a violation of the Student code.  All parties must agree to arbitration and be bound by the decision with no right of appeal.
